Since 2019, ElectricAid and SeeBeyondBorders (SBB) have been powering education transformation in Cambodian primary schools. Through partnership in the innovative Educational Technology (EdTech) project, teaching and learning are being enhanced in local classrooms.
SeeBeyondBordersStrategic Partnerships
ElectricAid has supported more than 2,500 projects since it was founded 40 years ago. The total value of these projects is more than €25 million, which has been distributed across 34 countries, with an average cost of €11,250 per project.
After nearly 40 years of funding charity projects, in 2023 ElectricAid explored a new partnership-based, longer-term funding model to complement and to manage in parallel with its existing funding process. This allowed our members to make a strong connection by following the progress throughout this programme of work. This model involves partnering with NGOs and charities with a proven track record of achievement and where the programme of work spans several years.

Systemic Change
Cambodia is experiencing what the World Bank calls ‘a learning crisis’, with just 3% of students reaching minimum learning standards by age 15. The Khmer Rouge regime, which reportedly saw 90% of teachers killed, is something the country is still recovering from, with education levels and student retention at some of the lowest in the region and the world. SBB sees first-hand the impact support to teachers and school leaders can have.
With ElectricAid’s support, SBB’s EdTech programme creates tailored digital resources and provides essential physical hardware for teachers to use in their own capacity building, in class planning and in improved delivery of classes to students. EdTech currently reaches almost 100 teachers and over 3,000 students. In 2025, 87.5% of those teachers now access and use online resources weekly, and 93% of students report that EdTech is making learning more engaging and enjoyable.

SBB is excited to bring EdTech to new regions in Cambodia in 2025. This expansion will improve education for even more children and provide inspiration for Cambodian-led systemic change across the public school system.

ElectricAid’s partnership is transforming the landscape of childhood cancer care in Tanzania. With a shared vision to build a high-quality, sustainable paediatric oncology service, ElectricAid’s support is ensuring that every child diagnosed with cancer has access to timely, effective, and compassionate treatment.
Thanks to ElectricAid, vital medical equipment such as infusion pumps, blood pressure monitors, and patient monitors have been procured which are key tools that make chemotherapy and supportive treatment safer and more effective.
Laptops funded by ElectricAid are improving clinical documentation, communication, and training across the National Childhood Cancer Network (NCCN), strengthening care delivery nationwide.
Importantly, ElectricAid is helping to remove the barriers that prevent families from reaching care. Funding for transport has enabled families from remote and rural areas to access life-saving treatment, significantly reducing treatment abandonment.
Support has also extended beyond the hospital walls; nutrition support is helping children stay strong through treatment, and a funded parent support group is providing emotional and practical guidance to families during their most difficult moments.
Together, through this holistic model of care - medical, nutritional, psychosocial, and logistical - ElectricAid and Tumaini La Maisha are saving lives and bringing hope to hundreds of families.

CBM Ireland is an international development organisation delivering projects that focus on disability inclusion and eye health in some of the poorest countries of the world. With the generous support of ElectricAid, CBM Ireland is delivering the Preventing Childhood Blindness Project in Madagascar. This vital project aims to prevent childhood blindness in Madagascar by introducing newborn vision screening. Focused on early detection and treatment of preventable eye conditions, the initiative strengthens the capacity of local healthcare providers through targeted training, provision of innovative tools, and community engagement.
At the heart of the project is the Arclight, an affordable, solar-powered, pocket-sized device that enables accurate eye screenings in low-resource settings. The project will train 150 healthcare workers to identify conditions like cataracts and glaucoma in the early stages. With a target of screening over 30,000 children, the project ensures access to life-changing treatments and provides critical support to affected families.
By aligning with national health strategies and involving local stakeholders, this three-year initiative is designed to ensure its sustainability. It not only aims to save the sight of thousands of children but also to influence national policy and expand newborn vision screening across Madagascar, therefore creating a lasting legacy of improved child eye health.
